JOB DESCRIPTION
The responsibility of the Organist/Pianist is to facilitate worship through music by accompanying choir, ensembles and soloists, providing solo music and leading the congregational singing from organ or piano.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
o Report to and work closely and cooperatively with the Director of Music
o Accompany the choir, praise team and soloists in weekly rehearsal and in our single worship service
o Provide solo music for weekly worship
o Lead congregational singing by accompanying hymns and praise songs in a manner that assists people of all musical levels to worship God joyfully in song
o Coordinate music with sermon topics and church seasons
o Play for wedding and memorial for additional honorarium. This position enjoys the first right of refusal for such services
Desired Skill Set:
o Ability to accompany individuals and groups and provide musical leadership on both piano and organ
o Commitment to the Christian faith with a heart for worship
o Ability to transpose and improvise praise music accompaniments
o Ability to read lead sheets a plus
o Ability to explore and incorporate musical diversity
o Professional affiliation encouraged
Hours and Wages:
o 10 hours per week, currently Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings
o $9,000 - $11,000
